Lightened Up Pizza using Greek Yogurt
Pizza is just one of those comfort foods that will always hold a special place in your heart. With this simple and healthy recipe, it will leave you wondering why you ever ordered delivery!
When I think about my Top 5 foods, Pizza is definitely on that list. I would even eat it cold for breakfast some days. There are so many different ways one can make a pizza, you can either load it up with all the best greasy comfort toppings you can dream of or you can make a healthy alternative and it will still be delicious. Eating a more balanced meal nowadays and watching what my body needs instead of what it wants has changed my lifestyle tremendously. I am down 30 Ibs all because I am more aware of what I am putting inside my body each day.
Cutting out your favorite foods does not have to be a dread if you can tweak the recipe and make it your own healthy creation. This lightened-up pizza recipe is exactly that! My fiance introduced me to the idea of “2 ingredient dough” which is just greek yogurt and self-rising flour and I just took that base and figured out how to make it a little more complex.
Ingredients
1 cup flour
1 cup nonfat or low-fat Greek Yogurt
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
dash of garlic powder
dash of onion powder
1/2 lemon zest
Steps
Preheat pizza stone 1 hour before using it. This will ensure crust will cook properly
Combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl
Transfer onto the table with flour. Make sure to use enough flour to eliminate sticking on your hands or tabletop
Roll out dough until your desired size
Top with anything you like - sauce, cheese, cured meats, veggies, fresh basil, etc.
Place in the oven at 450 F for 10-12 mins on the pizza stone
Enjoy
